Money, value and debt
In Dutch
How does an anarchist anthropologist look at money, value and debt? Based on historical and anthropological research, David Graeber makes some challenging observations and conclusions about axioms and ideas in mainstream economics. This lecture sheds light on the core issues in his work and looks at the implications for anarchist thought about economy. (Note: Graeber himself will not be present!)
13:00
Anarchism?
In Dutch
Lecture and discussion: what is anarchism today? Anarchistisch Kollektief Gent explains their vision on anarchism: what is the basis of anarchism, what are its historical origins, what's wrong with contemporary society, how can we deal with these problems and how does that translate into daily reality?
15:00
Workshop non-authoritarian education
In Dutch
How do we avoid authoritarian behaviour in the way we deal with children? In this workshop we look at how an anarchist vision translates into daily practice when it comes to our relationships towards children. Which schools today work starting from this non-authoritarian vision?
15:00
Counterpower from below
In Dutch
Building counterpower from below, that is radical! Bob Wester and Harry Westerink speak about how they do this with Doorbraak. They discuss examples to illustrate their ideas on a strategy for fundamental social change. In Leiden, Doorbraak organises local resistance against forced labour: people are forced to work for free, as a condition to receiving welfare. How do they do this? What tactics do they choose? Which steps do they go through?
17:00
The myth of the green economy
In Dutch
In their latest book, Anneleen Kenis and Matthias Lievens debunk the myth of 'the green economy'. At the same time, they raise challenging questions on priorities and strategy for social, ecological and climate movements. Matthias will present the outlines of their argument and disuss these with people from a diverse range of environmental movements.
